Bunnie - For my followers who aren’t familiar with you, feel free to introduce yourself !
Crystal Carr – My name is Crystal and I am the CEO of Diamond Development VIP which is an artist development company that helps mold artist as the grow into successful music careers.
Bunnie - That’s awesome! I was wondering if that still existed! I remember growing up and knowing that being an artist was hard work! Now, it seems that social media has changed the perception of what it means to be an artist!
CC- I agree! People forget that it takes a lot more to be a successful artist besides having good music. We are the company that helps teach you the business end, stage presence and actual lifestyle behind being an artist! However, I feel like we are so much more than that! We are more like a family that grows together. We have ups and downs but it’s a learning and growing process for all of our artist.
Bunnie - I think that’s amazing! Do people often mistake you for a record label company?
CC- Oh my goodness YES! I think that’s a part of the misconception with artists as well! We are not a record label! Although we can refer you to a few great ones, we are assist the management process and artist development! We simply help you grow as an artist, we don’t control bookings, finances etc. That’s a huge misconception in the industry!
Bunnie - Ok! I definitely can understand the misconception! So what else are you into? Any projects coming up we should be on the lookout for?
CC- Of course! We are working with some amazing new artist who will be releasing new music soon!
Bunnie - What are some inspiring words/advice for anyone looking to get into the music industry?
CC- The best advice that I can give someone is to remain original. It’s hard to get caught up in sounding like someone else because you think that’s what people want or the only thing they will accept. Soon you learn that there is a place just for you and your sound and that people really appreciate you! There is no better music you can make than your own. I also think it’s important to build a great team! A lot of people don’t wish you well so it’s important to have a team of people that you trust and have a vision such as yours.
Bunnie - What would you say some of your biggest challenges in the industry are?
CC – I think that sometimes people are so unprepared for the amount of work that it takes to become a successful artist that they don’t take it serios in the beginning. That always tends to be a bit of a challenge. However, we expect it and are prepared for it. Sometimes the artists just need someone to stay on them and not give up on them. That’s where we come in at. I also face little challenges as far as being a woman in the industry, but I have had a very supportive team and built a great reputation for myself and the company!
Bunnie - I like to give people the opportunity to promote and/or ask any questions that they may have for me.
CC- I just want to thank you for the opportunity to speak with you! I want people to stay tuned. We are working with a lot of great artist that have some amazing albums and unique sounds coming out!
